If you've been scammed by a wedding planner there are several steps you can take to try and get your money back.

First of all, contact the police department near you and file a report.

If you paid by credit card: Contact the credit card company and file a complaint. They will investigate on your behalf and you may be able to get your money back.

You should also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. When you file a complaint with the BBB they will investigate the company and try to get ahold of someone for you.

[In this KPRC 2 article Amy Davis explains how the BBB can help you.]

Another option for getting help is to use social media. KPRC 2 heard from several people who teamed up after they were taken advantage of by their wedding planner. They used comments and reviews to connect.

This KPRC article explains what you should know before hiring a contractor. This can also help when looking to hire wedding planning help.
